Q: What should my child wear to class?
A: Please refer to our Dress Code here for specific attire requirements for each dance style.
Q: What do boys wear for class?
A: For our Ballet classes, boys wear black pants, white shirts, and black ballet or jazz shoes. For our other classes, boys should wear clothes they feel comfortable moving in, and the appropriate dance shoes as noted in our Dress Code. T-shirts or tank tops and sweatpants or shorts are generally what we see in class.
Boys with longer hair should pull or clip their hair back so the hair is out of their eyes, for safety purposes.
Q: How do I register for classes?
A: Registration can be completed online here, on the DanceStudio-Pro Portal app, or in person at the front desk.
Q: Does my student have to participate in the annual performances?
A: We strongly encourage all dancers to participate in our annual December and June performances. Performing is an opportunity to recognize the progress and growth a dancer has made. It is also an excellent way for dancers to grow their self confidence - nerves are a natural part of performing, but so is the exhilarating feeling of coming off stage to a crowd cheering for you!
Q: Are there any discounts available?
A: Yes, we offer sibling discounts, a multi-class discount, and a 5% discount on your annual tuition if paid in full.
Q: Can parents stay in the classroom during class?
A: With the exception of our Mommy & Me class, we encourage student independence from parents/guardians in class. On rare occasions, we may ask a parent/guardian to sit in the room to help with a new student’s transition, but generally we ask that parents/guardians don’t come in to the classrooms during class time.
Q: Can parents observe classes?
A: Each of our studio rooms has a viewing window in the door, allowing for parents to view classes at any time.
Q: Am I supposed to stay at the studio while my student is in class?
A: You are welcome to stay if you would like, but you are also welcome to leave to run errands, watch a show in your car (our wifi reaches out to both sides of Main Ave!), take a walk to the Library, etc.
Q: Is the Mommy & Me class really just for moms?
A: No - Mommy & Me is open to all parents/guardians of a student! (we just like the alliteration of the M&M) We’ve had dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, and babysitters all join us with students.
Q: Where can I buy dance stuff or shoes?
A: We sell leotards, tights, ballet skirts, OCDC apparel, dance bags, and more at the studio’s front desk! We also have ballet, jazz, and tap shoes available for sale (some sizes may need to be ordered through our supplier).
Other purchasing options include Amazon or Discount Dance. We strongly encourage you to read reviews and sizing guides when purchasing dancewear or shoes online. Dance items don’t always follow regular clothes sizing.
